<p>The fibrous web (1) is subjected to treatment with wet steam from a nozzle (5) arrangement. This is carried out between two or more smoothing nips through which the web passes. The moistening device is located 10-100 cm before the nip. The mass ratio: liquid water/vaporized water, is adjustable. Separate adjustment is provided in zones across the direction of web travel (4). Ratio adjustment is a function of the type of web, its weight and/or the operating speed. The nozzles are at right angles to the web, over its entire width. They are connected to a mixing chamber (6) supplied with saturated or superheated steam and boiling water or condensate. There are a number of mixing chambers. A control valve is included in each steam (7) and/or water condensate (8) supply line. A spacing of 10-100 cm intervenes in each case, between nozzles and web and between nozzles and smoothing nip.</p> |
