A method and an apparatus for protecting private life in a mobile terminal are provided to access privacy protection mode easily through button manipulation by applying a polarizing film to a display part and arranging a button to conveniently set up the polarization state of the polarizing film. A mobile terminal(100) comprises a display part(118), a power supply part(112), a display driving part(106), an input part(115), and a control part(103). The display part(118), composed of an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) on which a polarizing film(121) is applied, outputs and displays various display data and messages. The power supply part(112) supplies power to the polarizing film(121). The display driving part(106) drives the display part(118). The input part(115) has a specific key to set up privacy protection mode. When the specific key is inputted, the control part(103) executes a control operation for mode transfer to privacy protection mode.
