摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image correction method, apparatus, and program capable of properly correcting the density or the like of an image whose dynamic range is extremely small. <P>SOLUTION: An image correction processing includes: a step 100 of interleaving image data of a processing object in units of pixels to generate reduced image data; a step 102 of generating histograms of R, G, B, Y, Cb and Cr; a step 104 of thereafter obtaining a color balance correction amount; steps 106 to 120 of extracting a principal region in the image to obtain a density correction condition; a step 122 of obtaining a saturation correction amount; a step 124 of setting a first correction condition; a step 126 of extracting the density of a highlight point from the histograms of R, G, B and extracting a gradation value at a shadow point from the histogram of Y; a step 130 of setting a second correction condition from them; a step 132 of obtaining the dynamic range of the image; a step 134 of using a weight correction set in response to the dynamic range to generate conversion data equivalent to the weighted average between the first correction condition and the second correction condition and converting the image data of the processing object by means of a 3D-LUT by using the generated conversion data. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
