PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To operate a stepping motor by a different drive type by a simple address control with a small storage capacity. SOLUTION: A stepping motor control circuit includes a pattern setting register 20 which stores an excitation pattern data group 201, which outputs an excitation pulse for 1-2-phase driving the stepping motor when reading every other one with one skip, and which is arrayed to output an excitation pulse for 2-2-phase driving when reading every three with three skips. Therefore, when a CPU designates "1", the stepping motor is 1-2-phase driven, and when the CPU designates "3", the stepping motor is 2-2-phase driven. Accordingly, it is not necessary to store excitation pattern data of the drive type in each table by providing a table of each drive type, and an address change when the excitation pattern data is selected becomes simple, and the excitation pattern data can be selected under a simple address control.
