A free wattage electronic ballast for a fluorescent lamp is provided to the fluorescent lamp stably by quickly grasping the kind of the lamp by sensing a voltage and a current of the lamp and A/D converting the sensed voltage. A free wattage electronic ballast for a fluorescent lamp includes an input-side filter(10), a rectifying unit(20), a power factor correction circuit(30), and an inverter unit(40). The input-side filter suppresses electromagnetic interference. The rectifying unit converts an inputted constant alternating voltage into a direct current voltage. The power factor correction circuit boosts the rectified direct current voltage. The inverter unit converts an output voltage of the power factor correction circuit into a square wave. The power factor correction circuit boosts the DC voltage. An output voltage is a full-wave rectified waveform and a DC voltage is a DC voltage boosted by an inductor. |
