<p>The device (1) has a supply device (2) for transporting a back gluing material (3) from a storage device perpendicular to a book production line. A unit is formed of a cross cutter (4) and a transfer device (5) and attached to a supporting table (6) for a back gluing section which is separated from the material path. A guiding organ (19) bridges a conveying section of a rear gluing station (15) and is deliverable above and in the distance to a book block back (9).
