Edge seals

An intumescent panel edge seal comprises a channel section strip of plastics material having an elongate base 1 and a wall 2 upstanding from each side edge of the base 1. A lip 3 extends inwardly towards a longitudinal centre line of the channel section strip from the end of each upstanding wall 2 remote from the base 1. A relatively flexible protrusion 4 extends inwardly towards the longitudinal centre line of the channel section strip from the edge of each lip 3. Each upstanding wall 2 has a strip of intumescent material 5 in contact with its inner surface between the base 1 and the under surface of the lip 3. Each protrusion 4 may taper towards its edge distal from the lip 3 and may be inclined away from the base 1. In use the panel edge seal may be positioned around the edges of a panel and the panel mounted in a frame in a conventional manner.
