METHOD FOR POLYMERIZING WATER-SOLUBLE MONOMER WITH WATER-INSOLUBLE MONOMER AND DEVICE FOR THE SAME

A process for polymerizing a water soluble monomer with a non-water soluble monomer is provided to reduce or avoid the use of a surfactant, and to allow easy preparation of a polymer having a desired molecular weight. A process for polymerizing a water soluble monomer with a non-water soluble monomer comprises the steps of: (a) introducing an aqueous solution containing a water soluble monomer and an organic solution containing a non-water soluble monomer into a mixing tank(1) and mixing the monomers; and (b) introducing the aqueous-organic mixture present in the mixing tank into a micro-reactor(3) by using a pump(2), carrying out polymerization via micro-mixing, and reintroducing the resultant mixture into the mixing tank of step (a).
