A method for confirming a receiving state of a broadcasting signal is provided to determine normality or abnormality of receive sensitivity of a decided channel and protocol information, thereby preventing generation of errors that a screen is stopped or the like. A method for confirming a receiving state of a broadcasting signal comprises the following steps of: muting a video and sound if confirmed receive sensitivity of a video signal of a selected channel is below setup sensitivity or in a no signal state(S10); if the receive sensitivity of the video signal is below setup sensitivity, confirming whether program and system information is received and if not so, muting the video and sound(S11,S20,S21); and if the program and system information are received, outputting the video and sound(S30).
