An apparatus and a method for regulating an audio volume are provided to prevent an audio signal of a broadcast signal from being inputted to an audio amplification unit at the time of audio mute, thereby suppressing the generation of pop noise. A tuner unit(2) receives a broadcast signal of a specific channel according to control of a micro-controller, and selectively removes an audio signal from the received broadcast signal at the time of audio mute. A video/audio separation unit(3) separates the broadcast signal into a video signal and an audio signal. An audio amplification unit(4) amplifies the audio signal, and outputs the amplified audio signal through a speaker.
