An auto gain control method of a digital television is provided to quantize a video signal of a CVBS signal, perform comparison with a reference value through a digital value, and control a gain so as for a level of a synchronizing signal to be a reference level. An auto gain control method of a digital television comprises the following steps of: separately receiving a synchronizing signal from an inputted CVBS(Composite Video Baseband Signal) signal(S10); quantizing the inputted synchronizing signal(S12); comparing a level value of the quantized synchronizing signal with a reference value(S14); calculating a gain value through the comparison with the reference value(S18); and correcting the level value according to the calculated gain value and outputting the corrected value(S20,S22).
