A parking device of an automatic transmission is provided to make a passenger comfortable by smoothly mating triangular teeth with teeth of a parking gear. A parking gear(5) includes triangular teeth. A guide housing(7) encloses an outer periphery of the parking gear. A triangular teeth unit(9) is contained in and supported on the guide housing and moved back and forth to and from the parking gear. The triangular teeth unit is implemented to prevent a rotation of the parking gear during a forward movement. A return spring(11) is implemented on the guide housing to apply a backward force on the triangular teeth. A pin member(12) penetrates through a side portion of the triangular teeth unit. Stopper pins are implemented to restrict the forward movement of the triangular teeth. A pulling wire(14) is formed to be wound around the stopper pins and the pin member. A direction of the pulling wire is changed through an inner portion of a last stopper pin. A parking rod(4) is connected to the other end of the pulling wire and moves the triangular teeth forwards in response to an operation of a speed shift toward a parking stage. A shift lever(1) pushes the parking rod to release the pulling wire. At the parking level, the shift lever pulls the parking rod to fasten the pulling wire.
