A method for processing messages and a mobile communication terminal using the same are provided to set a phrase in a caller number input item without entering a separate menu, activating a separate window and setting a predetermined phrase to set a predetermined phrase. A method for processing messages comprises the following steps of: receiving messages when a user selects a message input mode(S201,S203); receiving a predetermined user input phrase on a message transmission screen for setting a source address and a destination address(S205); and requesting the transmission of a message including the user input phrase(S209).
