A vacuum cleaner is provided to collect impurities of fine particles discharged to the outside with air, and to sterilize microorganisms such as germs sucked into a main body part with air and impurities by forming a filter part. A vacuum cleaner comprises a main body part, a suction part, and an ion generation device(300). The main body part consists of a motor and a filter part for collecting impurities sucked by the motor. The suction part assembled to the main body part has a suction passage for transmitting the sucked impurities to the filter part, and sucks the impurities by driving of the motor. The ion generation device, which is installed at one area of the suction passage, generates an ion responding with the impurities moving along the suction passage. The ion generation device also includes a base(310) placed on the suction passage, a positive ion generation part(320), and a negative ion generation part(330). The positive ion generation part supported by the base generates a positive ion. The negative ion generation part supported by the base to be separated from the positive ion generation part generates a negative ion.
