An apparatus and a method for monitoring a magnetizing state of a synchronous electric motor are provided to reduce a test time by automatically determining the abnormal magnetizing state of the motor based on a counter electromotive voltage waveform and a counter electromotive voltage value of a counter electromotive force of an exciting coil. An apparatus for monitoring a magnetizing state of a synchronous electric motor includes a control block(302), a switching block(312), a waveform measuring block(318), a main control block(322), and a monitor(324). The control block monitors a magnetizing state of magnetic material and generates a selection signal to selectively switch an output of a counter electromotive force of an exciting coil(314) when detecting completion of magnetizing of the magnetic material. The switching block is installed between a power supply block(304) and the exciting coil to switch the output of the counter electromotive force in response to the selection signal. The waveform measuring block measures a voltage waveform of the counter electromotive force. The main control block analyzes the measured voltage waveform, determines the abnormal magnetizing state of the magnetic material, and controls to generate a message corresponding to the determination result. The monitor outputs a result message corresponding to the determination result according to control of the main control block.
