Disclosed is An optically active dihydropyridine derivative R)-2-amino-1,4-dihydro-6-methyl-4-(3-nitrophenyl)-3,5-pyridinedicarboxylic acid 3-(1-diphenylmethylazetidine-3-yl)ester 5-isopropylester or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof having superior blood pressure lowering action, cardiac protective action, and a therapeutic agent or preventive agent comprising the same for hypertension, heart diseases, arteriosclerosis and kidney disorders.
