The method involves capturing a respiration parameter by a measuring technique, and comparing the respiration parameter with stored data. A pressure variation is evaluated. An evolution of flow and pressure are captured. A measurement of the pressure is executed in a maximum flow evolution region. Variations of inspiratory and expiratory pressures are separately detected, and an average pressure value is captured during an apnea e.g. obstructive apnea or central apnea. An independent claim is also included for a device for detecting a physiological signal, comprising a detection system.
