A gear case structure for an engine is provided to achieve improved sealing performance among a cylinder head, a cylinder block, a gear case and a flywheel housing, and improved strength by forming the gear case into a thick cast shape. A gear case(30) for an engine is interposed between a cylinder block and a flywheel housing. The gear case includes a mounting portion(31) arranged at one side of the gear case for mounting an air compressor of the engine, and a gear cover portion(32) arranged at the other side of the gear case for covering a plurality of gear assemblies engaged with a gear of the air compressor. The mounting portion and the gear cover portion have a plurality of reinforcement ribs.
