Process of making a coating composition and coated substrate

A method (M1) for the production of coating compositions (I) from (a) an aqueous composition containing plastic pigment(s) (II) with a glass transition point (Tg) of at least 50[deg] C by (b) adding a cationic substance (III) containing salts of di- and/or tri-valent cations, in which anionic pigment with an average particle diameter (d50) of 1-500 nm (IVA) is added before stage (b) and/or cationic pigment with a d50 of 1-500 nm (IVB) is added after stage (b). Independent claims are also included for (1) a method (M2) for the production of coated substrates by applying (I) to the prepared substrate and then drying the coating (2) coating compositions (I) obtained by M1 (3) coated substrates comprising a substrate coated by M2 .
