A field emission display device and a driving method thereof are provided to improve image quality by decreasing a brightness variation among respective pixel circuits. A field emission display device includes a display panel(110), a scan driver(120), a data driver(130), a current detector(150), and a data compensator(160). The display panel includes a pixel unit and a dummy pixel unit. The pixel unit includes plural pixel circuits which are formed at intersections between data and scan lines. The dummy pixel unit includes plural dummy pixel circuits. The scan driver sequentially applies scan signals to the scan lines to select one of the pixel and dummy pixel circuits. The data driver delivers data signals to the data lines. The current detector measures the current which flows through the dummy pixel unit. The data compensator compensates for the data signal according to the current amount which is measured at the current detector.
