A plug adapter comprising: an insulating housing 1 having a first insertion member, e.g. plug 2, and a second insertion member, e.g. socket 3; and a plug body 4 having a third insertion member, e.g. plug 41. The first and second electrical connectors 2, 3 are electrically connected to each other within the insulation housing 1. The insulation housing 1 is retained on plug body 4, preferably by means two lateral arms 12 which pivot relative to the plug and prevents the adapter from becoming lost. The plug is movably assembled with the insulating housing and slides between the two lateral arms enabling the second connector 3 to connect and disconnect from the third connector 41. The insulating housing 1, the first insertion element 2 and the second insertion element 3 are assembled as an adapter head. For mating with sockets of different types and specifications, the plug slides out of engagement with the second insertion member to enable wither the plug or the first insertion member to be plugged into a socket. The adapter may include an electronic circuit (5, fig. 17) to prevent damage to a connected device from unstable voltages. |
