<p>The method involves determining address information for an asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) cell from a set of cells and checking whether the information is already detected in a table, in which the information is represented in a channel identifier. The cells are arranged according to their channel identifiers. A content addressable memory (18) realizes the table. The information is coupled as data input signal at the memory. The channel identifier is coupled as address output signal. A signal indicating that the information is not detected in the table is provided. An independent claim is also included for an apparatus that provides asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) cells ordered according to ATM channels in an interface of a communication system placed between two nodes.</p> |
