Class 38(5) In an arc-extinction device as claimed in the parent Specification and comprising separate arc chambers in each of which an arc is developed until it reaches the periphery of the chamber, the lateral walls 2 of the separate arc - extinction chambers are provided with passages which are very small compared with the clearance between adjacent plates 1 which form the transverse walls of the chambers. The walls 2 may be separated from the adjacent plates 1 by spacers 3 provided with passages 4 through which the arc gases escape. Alternatively, the walls 2 may be of a highly-porous refractory material the passages 4 then being unnecessary. Specifications 716,998 and 723,837 are referred to.
