Use of non-ionic ethoxy compound (I) for the activation of hydrogen peroxide. Use of non-ionic ethoxy compound (I) of formula (R 1>-O-(CH 2-CH 2-O) w-(CH 2-CH(R 2>)-O) x-(CH 2-CH 2-O) y-(CH 2-CH(R 3>)-O) z-R 4>) for the activation of hydrogen peroxide. R 1>H or optionally saturated 6-24C alkyl- or -alkenyl residue; R 4>H or optionally saturated 1-4C alkyl- or -alkenyl residue; either w, y : 0-50; or w+y : 3-80 or 5-90; and x, z : 0-50. Independent claims are included for: (1) an agent (A), for brightening keratin fibers, comprising (I) (0.1-20 (preferably 2.5-12.5) wt.%) and an imidazole compound of formula (II) or its salts (1-20 wt.%); (2) an agent (A1), for brightening keratin fibers, comprising (I) (0.1-20 (preferably 2.5-12.5) wt.%) and at least a material from carbonate, monoalkylcarbonate (carbon dioxide monoester), carbon dioxide monoamide, silylcarbonate and/or silylcarbamate (0.1-25 (preferably 1.5-10) wt.%); (3) an agent (A2), for brightening keratin fibers, comprising (I) (0.1-20 (preferably 2.5-12.5) wt.%), at least a cyanate compound of formula (M +>[OCN] ->) and a keto-amine compound of formula (NH 2-C(O)-L) (0.05-5 wt.%); and (4) an agent (A3), for brightening keratin fibers, comprising (I) (0.1-20 (preferably 2.5-12.5) wt.%) and at least a piperidone and/or piperidone derivative such as 2-piperidone and/or its derivative, preferably 2-piperidinium salt, 3-piperidone and/or its derivative, preferably 3-piperidinium salt, 4-piperidone and/or its derivative, preferably 4-piperidinium salt (0.1-20 (preferably 2.5-10) wt.%). R 5>H, aryl group (optionally substituted) or 1-6C alkyl; R 6>H, carboxyaldehyde, 1-6C alkyl or nitro group; R 7>H, carboxy-(1-6C)-alkyl, amino-(1-6C)-alkyl, carboxyl, carboxyaldehyde, 1-6C alkyl, nitro, 2-amino-3-hydroxypropyl or -CH 2-CH(NH 2)-COOH; M +>K +>, Li +>, Li, NH 4+>, 1/2 Ca 2+>, 1/2 Mg 2+>or 1/2 Zn 2+>; L : an anion -OOH substituted group; and R 8>H, carboxyaldehyde or carboxyl group.
