The machine has a tubular, non rotatable lance (6) projecting from a side (15) of a rotor (1) for cooling the rotor designed in a common way, where an outer end (7) of the rotor has a connector (8) to supply a cooling medium and an exhaust port (9) in an interior of the rotor. The rotor has a ventilation opening (12) leading in an area of a coil end (11) of a stator. An exhaust port (14) for cooling medium distributed in an area about the coil end of the stator is arranged in a housing (3) of the machine.
