<p>A laser light control device (300, 400) for an image forming apparatus designed to improve the auto power control (APC) accuracy and to reduce the control time. A multifunctional optical element (30, 31) has a plurality of different optical characteristics. A detecting unit (9) is adapted to detect laser light from the semiconductor laser (8). A control unit (2, 5, 6, 7) is adapted to perform control of the write start position of the laser light in the main scanning direction and control of the quantity of the laser light by detecting the laser light by means of the detecting unit (9) after passage of the laser light through the multifunctional optical element (2, 5, 6, 7).</p> |
