<p>A bursting disc assembly for mounting with gaskets between flanges has a forward or reverse orientated bursting disc 3, an outlet side support ring 5 and may have an inlet support ring 6. The rings may be welded to the disc and dimensioned to engage with flange bolts to centre the assembly. To provide a safety warning when the assembly is incorrectly installed in a reversed orientation, the outlet side ring 5 has a passage 7 through it from its radial interior to its radial exterior. The passage may be a full thickness slot, a groove in either side of the ring of sufficient depth and width (typically 0.5 to 4mm) so as not to be blocked by any gaskets associated with installation or a bore. The passage may be straight or may have a baffle in the form of a bend. On incorrect installation the passage provides a leak path from the pressurised side of the disc which may be visible and will show on system pressure testing.</p> |
