A contents recorder and a method thereof are provided to record wanted contents at a memory card by using an NAND flash memory element while considering position where there occur bad bits, and to prevent an external person from using a write and a delete function for implementing an ROM card such that the NAND flash memory can be used though it has the bad bits. A method of a contents recorder comprises the following several steps. A CPU inspects a memory card implemented by using an NAND flash memory element with bad bits, and checks the bad bits(41). The CPU processes the bad bits by the unit of a block by using position information of the checked bad bits(42). The CPU sets a header data area and a contents data area on a normal block area where there does not occur a bad bit(43). The CPU records contents feature information at the header data area, and records the contents data at normal blocks while not recording the contents data at bad blocks(44).
