The present invention provides a medicament for neurodegenerative diseases comprising zonisamide or an alkali metal salt thereof as an active ingredient. The present medicament can be used in the prevention and treatment of neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson's disease, Huntington's disease, choreic syndrome and dystonic syndrome in mammals (including humans).
