SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR INTERCHANGING MEDICAL DATA BETWEEN HOSPITALS

A system and a method for interchanging medical information between hospitals are provided to enable a patient to inquiry medical information in an EMR(Electronic Medical Record) of a second hospital by transferring the medical information stored in a first hospital to the second hospital directly without carrying the medical information. First and second gateways(15,25) are respectively connected to first and second hospitals(10,20) to transfer a CDA(Clinical Document Architecture) document. The first gateway receives metadata of the CDA document made in the first hospital and transfers the metadata to the second gateway. The second gateway transfers the document searched by a CDA document request to the second hospital when the second gate requests the CDA document by analyzing the received metadata and checking a location of the first hospital storing the CDA document. The first and second hospitals include an emergency medical proxy server documenting/storing the medical information of an emergency patient. An emergency hospital or an ambulance downloads the medical information by connecting to the medical proxy server when an emergency state of the patient occurs.
