The present invention relates to a method in which dauno-mycin is eluted from a hydrophobic porous synthetic resin carrier onto which daunomycin is adsorbed from crude daunomycin with a buffered aqueous solution containing a water-miscible organic solvent to recover purified daunomycin. Daunomycin (daunorubicin) is purified efficiently.
