The invention relates to the refractory industry, in particularl to the processes for preparation of fused corundum and other fused materials on the basis of alumina. The dosing charge of alumina-containing material is supplied into electric the arc furnace by portions as large as 2-6 mas. % from total amount of charged material through regular intervals, and its fusion. After that the repeated destruction by electrodes of the upper crust of fusion of a refractory block is carried out, which is crystallized, with a further cooling and processing of block. The process provides the preparation of material with a high density.
