A method for protecting the proximal end of the system for shunting the ventricles of the brain (liquor-shunting systems of LSS2 and LSS3) from being squeezed consists in putting the 1-cm fragment of the distal end of LSS Medtronic onto the proximal end of LSS2 or LSS3. Due to the increased hardness and larger diameter of this fragment, the proximal end of LSS2 and LSS3 is protected from the mechanical squeezing and the flexures exceeding 90° at the level the milled opening.
