A head position control method and a disk apparatus are provided to prevent erroneous switching of heads and correct a servo gate rapidly when switching the heads by correcting the time of a servo gate signal through a servo gate generating part. A disk device comprises a plurality of heads(62,64), a signal demodulator(40), and a servo gate generating part. The signal demodulator extracts servo signals from read signals of the heads by a servo gate(60). The servo gate generating part calculates the circumferential time variable of the servo signals between the heads from the switched sector position and corrects the time of the servo gate signal based on the time variable when switching the heads from one to the other.
