A mobile terminal for reproducing a DCF(DRM(Digital Right Management) Contents Format) file using a cluster file and a method thereof are provided to allow a user having an authority to use a DCF file to use the DCF file, which has been downloaded to a mobile terminal, also in a portable terminal such as an MP3 player or a PMP(Portable Media Player). A key input unit(100) requests driving of a DRM manager, namely, an application for reproducing a DCF file. A display unit(102) displays an operation state of a mobile terminal and a process of reproducing the DCF file. A program storage unit(104) generates a real time operating system, a call processing software of the mobile terminal, a cluster file, and includes the DRM manager for reproducing the DCF file. When the DRM manager is being driven, a mode status storage unit(106) sets a status flag and stores it. A microprocessor(114) control a general operation to allow smooth voice transmission/reception and message transmission/reception, drives the DRM manager, and provides control to decode the DCF file to reproduce it. A speaker(124) outputs audio data transferred from a baseband conversion unit(118) as an audible sound. A microphone(126) converts an inputted voice of a user into an electrical signal.
