METHOD FOR CLINICAL STAGING OF ULCERATIVE COLITIS OR INTERSTITIAL PNEUMONIA AND REAGENT KIT FOR THE SAME

Disclosed is a method for clinical staging of ulcerative colitis or interstitial pneumonia which can determine the clinical condition readily and is useful for the selection of a therapeutic agent to be used, the determination of the therapeutic level of a treatment applied and the determination of whether the dispensing of a therapeutic agent is to be ceased or not or the like, unlike to conventional staging methods for in which the clinical stage is determined by the observation of a lesion on the mucosa by an endoscope which requires some experience of a practitioner or the analysis of a pathological tissue specimen collected from a living body, the method being capable of determining the clinical stage quantitatively by determining a substance contained in the urine in a numerical form. The concentration of a prostaglandin E-main urinary metabolite (PGE-MUM) in the urine is measured to determine the pre-remission phase and the remission phase of ulcerative colitis. Similarly, the concentration of a prostaglandin E-main urinary metabolite (PGE-MUM) in the urine is measured to determine the active phase and the inactive phase of interstitial pneumonia ulcerative colitis.
