<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrochemical cell having high efficiency per unit volume, simplified in a structure necessary for sealing between an oxidant gas and a fuel gas, and enabling improvement in efficiency. <P>SOLUTION: The electrochemical cell 40 is a self-supporting electrochemical cell which is provided with a first electrode 27, a second electrode 28, and a solid electrolyte 24 formed between the first electrode 27 and the second electrode 28.
