<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology for improving compression efficiency of an image comprising a foreground part and a background part. <P>SOLUTION: A bit map compressing unit 108 compresses a background image obtained by removing the background part from the image. A vectorizing unit 104 vectorizes the foreground part. When the cumulative data size of compressed data obtained sequentially through the compression processing exceeds a threshold, the bit map compressing unit 108 is controlled to perform compression processing for the background image again. When the cumulative data size of data obtained sequentially through the vectorization exceeds a threshold, the vectorizing unit 104 is controlled to vectorize the foreground image again. The background image obtained by expanding the compression result and the foreground part reconstituted on the basis of the vectorization processing result are put together to output the composite image. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
