PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera system making an image blur correction device normally operate according to use circumstances when the image blur correction device is incorporated in a camera main body and an interchangeable lens, and its control method. SOLUTION: The camera system 1 is constituted of the camera main body 3, and the interchangeable lens 2 which can be attached to/detached from the camera main body 3. The camera main body 3 has an imaging part 71, a shake detection part for a main body 30, an image blur correction part for a main body 76, and a body microcomputer 12 controlling the operation of the imaging part 71, the shake detection part 30 and the image blur correction part 76. The interchangeable lens 2 has a shake detection part 21, an image blur correction part 83 and a lens microcomputer 20 controlling the operation of the shake detection part 21 and the image blur correction part 83. The body microcomputer 12 sets the image blur correction part 83 for the lens to a correctable state through the lens microcomputer 20 substantially simultaneously with the start of exposure preparation of the imaging part 71 or before the start of the exposure preparation.
