METHOD FOR EXTRACTING FEATURE OF IMAGE AND METHOD FOR COMPRESSING IMAGE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for extracting the feature of an image capable of achieving compression finer than a JPEG at all times at the same compression ratio. SOLUTION: The method for extracting the feature of the image contains a step of converting the imparted image into a multiply divided image by carrying out a k2division processing to the imparted image at least once. The k2division processing contains the step (a) of preparing a matrix T on the basis of an image matrix X, the step (b) of computing the singular value of the matrix T, and the step (c) of deciding whether or not minj¾σj-σj-1¾>εholds. The k2division processing further contains the step (d) of conducting a processing computing the singular value of an augmented matrix Tαand returning to the step (c) when the result of the decision of the step (c) is "No", and the step (e) of obtaining U as T=USVTwhen the result of the decision of the step (c) is "Yes".
