PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of much more effectively reducing vibrational sound produced from an image carrier even if at least AC voltage is applied to an electrifying roller which performs non-contact electrification. SOLUTION: First and second gap members 3d and 3e are fixed at both ends of the core bar 3b of an electrifying roller 3a, and a resistance layer 3c is formed on the outer peripheral surface of the core bar 3b between the first and the second gap members 3d and 3e. The first and the second gap members 3d and 3e are brought into press-contact with a photoreceptor 2, whereby an electrification gap G is set. First and second elastic members 3h and 3i are respectively provided at the parts 3f and 3g of the core bar 3b on an opposite side to an electrifying part 3a<SB>1</SB>with respect to the first and the second gap members 3d and 3e. The first and the second elastic members 3h and 3i abut on the photoreceptor 2 so as to absorb and relieve the vibrational sound from the photoreceptor 2. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
