PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and method of measuring an amount of wear in a trolley wire that are capable of performing measurement when a vehicle is driving, can miniaturize an instrument (device) at a measurement field, and can measure the amount of the wear in the trolley wire quickly and accurately. SOLUTION: The trolley wire 1 is photographed from lateral, oblique, lower parts with a prescribed elevation angle on the ground separated from a position directly below the trolley wire 1. The data of the trolley wire 1 are measured, based on the photographed trolley wire image. The measurement data are sent to a computing means 5 to compute the amount of the wear in the trolley wire.
