PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reagent sufficiently soluble in an ordinary organic solvent and suitable for use in nucleophilic substitution reaction. SOLUTION: A new composition comprises a compound represented by formula YOSF<SB>5</SB>or ZOSF<SB>5</SB>[wherein (a) when Y is an inorganic cation, Y contains (i) an organic cation other than (Me<SB>2</SB>N)<SB>3</SB>S+ or (ii) an inorganic cation with the proviso that the composition further contain a complexing agent; (b) Z is a 1-20C alkyl, an aryl, a cycloalkyl, a combination thereof or an analogue containing at least one hetero atom, with the proviso that a compound represented by the formula ZOSF<SB>5</SB>is a molecular compound]. A method for producing the cationic compound is expressed as a method for using a composition containing a cationic compound in nucleophilic substitution reaction for preparing a composition containing a molecular compound containing an OSF<SB>5</SB>group.
