PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compound which can use bonds scarcely damaging proteins to immobilize the proteins. SOLUTION: The agent having a biological substance-immobilizing ability comprises a compound represented by the general formula (1): OHC-L-X-(CH(R)CH<SB>2</SB>O)<SB>n</SB>-COOH or its salt.
