PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an anti-viral material based on a new scientific fact related to the generation of hydroxyl radical and the inactivation of viruses. SOLUTION: This antiviral material inactivates viruses with hydroxyl radical produced by reacting metal oxide powder with a hydroxide in an effective combination. Thereby, a virus such as influenza virus, coronavirus, flavivirus, picornavirus, calicivirus, filovirus, rhabdovirus, paramyxovirus, herpesvirus, papilloma virus, polyoma virus, adenovirus, parvovirus, retrovirus, or hepadnavirus is surely/clearly inactivated.
