PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an injection-molding machine which can suppress the enlargement and the cost increase of the injection-molding machine itself, and at the same time, can increase the yield of a molded article, and to provide a controlling method for the injection-molding machine. SOLUTION: This injection-molding machine 1 is equipped with an injection machine 8 and a controlling apparatus 9. The injection machine 8 is equipped with a cylinder section 21 and a slide moving section 23. The cylinder section 21 is equipped with a heating cylinder 24 and a screw 25. The slide moving section 23 is equipped with a motor 34 for moving the screw 25. The controlling apparatus 9 moves the screw 25 to the opening 26 of the heating cylinder 24 at a prescribed speed for a prescribed distance in the filling process. The prescribed distance is one for which the volume of the injected synthetic resin is smaller than the volume of the cavity 13 of dies 10 and 11. The controlling apparatus 9 stops the screw 25 in the pressure keeping process after the filling process, and regulates the screw 25 from retracting until the pressure of the synthetic resin in the cavity 13 falls to a set pressure for the pressure keeping.
