A wavelength selective light-shielding element which can shield circularly polarized light rotating in a specific direction out of light having a wavelength in a specific range. A light-shielding region transmitting a first circularly polarized light rotating in one direction regardless of the wavelength, shielding a second circularly polarized light having a wavelength in a specific range out of the second circularly polarized lights rotating in the second direction, and transmitting a second circularly polarized light out of the specific range is provided on a part of a transparent substrate.
