<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a separator that allows to achieve a fuel cell which maintains efficient power-generation performance while preventing a polymer electrolyte membrane from being damaged by almost equalizing a contact pressure between the separator and a membrane-electrode assembly. <P>SOLUTION: The separator is used for the fuel cell that includes at least one single cell at least provided with the membrane-electrode assembly 5 which has an anode 4a including a gas diffusion layer, a cathode 4b including a gas diffusion layer, and the polymer electrolyte membrane 1; and a pair of the separators 6a, 6b arranged while sandwiching the membrane-electrode assembly so as to supply/discharge a reaction gas to/from the membrane-electrode assembly. The separator is provided with a gas flow path which comprises each groove part 7a<SB>1</SB>, 7b<SB>1</SB>and each rib part 7a<SB>2</SB>, 7b<SB>2</SB>that separates between the groove parts adjacent to each other, and each porous layer 20a, 20b in at least to some of the rib parts in contact with the gas diffusion layer. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
