<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of detecting humidity without the use of expensive sensors and capable of controlling image processes. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is provided with a secondary transfer roller 34, having environment dependence of resistance; a measurement part for applying a constant current to the secondary transfer roller 34 and detecting voltage to measure the resistance of the roller 34; a temperature sensor 65 arranged in the vicinity of the secondary transfer roller 34; a calculation part for calculating the humidity, on the basis of the measured result of the measurement part and an output from the temperature sensor 65; and a control part for controlling image processes in the apparatus, on the basis of the humidity calculation result. Preferably, the image forming apparatus stores a resistance detection result under a fixed environment of the secondary transfer roller 34 and calculates the humidity, on the basis of the stored resistance detection result. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
