<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a biochemical reaction apparatus and a biochemical reaction method, capable of surely perform liquid transport by solving liquid remaining or liquid back flow. <P>SOLUTION: The biochemical reaction apparatus 100 includes a cartridge 3 having a plurality of chambers 21-24 storing solutions X and Y and a flow passage 25 connecting the plurality of chambers 21-24, which are disposed between a substrate 1 and an elastic body 2 placed over the substrate 1; and a roller 4 which applies external force to the elastic body 2 to partially deform the passage 25 or the chambers 21-24 or the both to thereby move the solutions X and Y located in the passage 2 or the chambers 21-24.
